The alarm went off at 7am, Beth and l lay there reluctant to move but we get dressed and make our way to breakfast. JohnMiller doesn't join us, Raj keeps knocking for him but gets no response and ends up paying his tab. Dylan was suffering from a little sun stroke the day before but has made a recovery, however, Jess has fallen really ill and they end up arranging a taxi to Udaipur instead of getting the coach with us. 8am tuc tucs, take us to our 8.30am bus. It's a large Mercedes bus with air conditioning. The bus climbs through the mountains, passing lush green trees, picture book streams and brooks and monkeys. We stop at a midway point for comfort break and I use the worst squat toilet I've used so far. I covered myself in hand sanitiser as I got out- apparently I'm only slightly acclimatising. The bus pulls into Udaipur at 2.30pm, it's hot. So hot in fact that we think we’re standing by that part of a bus that emits all that heat at the back- I have not the foggiest what that's called. We’re not. It's just that hot. We’re staying in beautiful Haveli. It's white all over, with blue, green and red glass lanterns hanging from the ceiling. I also have my own room for the next three nights that we are here. I dump my bag and we all have lunch upstairs. The view is incredible. We are right by the lake. Looking to the left you can see the palace, infront the hotels lining the opposite shore and to the right a bridge. JohnMiller is feeling human again and Raj sends him off to the bank to sort out money…he's lost his bank card. How? Raj sets the wheels in motion for Western Union transfer. When Raj is back he takes us on a quick orientation tour while Dylan and Jess arrive. The town seems cleaner than the other places we’ve been to. There are clothing and textile shops alternating between fine art and trinket shops. The area is hilly and there are less cars due to the narrow windy roads. Raj shows us where the temples, Royal Palace, lake, museum and best places to eat and drink are. The town isn't big so it only takes 25 minutes. We have dinner and drinks on the roof while watching the sunset.
