It was gone 9am before I woke up. Beth was already awake, reading in bed. I told Beth I'd had a nightmare during the night and dreamt that someone was in the room and I was trying to scream to tell Beth but no sound would come out. Beth said that when I had been drifting off to sleep I'd made this weird inside screaming sound but she hadn't said anything to me because I was asleep BUT she had also woke in the night thinking there was someone in the room!!! On that note, we got dressed quickly and went for breakfast. Our room was practically next door to the restaurant, and where we had gotten out of the taxi the night before. Clearly our tired brains were feeling like victims when we had arrived.
A supermarket was calling me for some toiletries that I actually owned, instead of relying on hotel minis, and Beth had some stuff to get too so we wandered around the town. Turning right as we left the hotel we followed a small hill with trees on the right and homestays to the left, as the hill angled downwards we turned left to meet small stalls and homes. Children sitting in open doorways, barefoot with big smiles ‘hi hi hi…bye bye bye’. Eventually reaching a bus stop, taking a left again to the high street. Tailors next to pharmacies, next to souvenir shops, stalls selling sweets, cigarette and paan, and eventually a supermarket. I treated my hair to a ‘Dove intense conditioner treatment balm’…and my mouth to a bar of Dairy Milk.
I decided to do some washing when back at the hotel, I only came to this decision because I had nothing clean to wear. Your idea of clean is very different when you're travelling. And fragrant? Fragrance is a damn luxury. I do miss a washing machine and some concentrated fabric conditioner that makes my clothes smell like a Lush shop. I spent the rest of the afternoon reading on the balcony. Beth gave me ‘And The Mountain Echoed’ a few days ago and insists I read it, so far so good. Beth and James went on a cooking class at 5pm and I chilled in the room watching An Idiot Abroad on Beth's laptop. By the time she came back I was sound asleep.
