Apparently when I'm on not a tour I am lazy. I don't get out of bed until 11am when I need to shower and get ready for Hamish and Becs to come meet me for lunch at my hostel, which actually does a very good selection of beige English food. As soon as Hamish and Becs leave I go back to watching films in bed.
I had mentioned my disappointment about the acrobat show to the receptionist at my new hostel and they recommended the Kung fu show at the Red Theatre, which Ruth had also recommended to me. Michelle was up for seeing it too and managed to get a cheaper ticket rate plus a taxi to the the show. I met Michelle at the subway station behind Tiananman square. Her hostel was off a bustling street. We waited for 15 minutes and the taxi driver called the hostel to tell us he was waiting for us at the same subway station we had just walked back from!
The show was brilliant. It started with a young boy, about 8, doing back flips landing on his head! Tens of men in perfect synchronisation, boldly, yet quietly, dancing their way around the stage. I cannot recommend the show enough. Refreshingly, as well, the audience was full of locals.
Feeling like locals, we navigated the tube network and I said goodbye to Michelle.
